Thanks to our neighbor Debbie we're pretty certain that Gene is in fact an abandoned Tibetan Terrier (or at least mostly if not entirely of that lineage).

We met Gene as we were feeding dogs at a local temple, market, and in between.  He chose us to be his friends and keepers through his wonderful personality despite his difficult life.  More photos will be added when time permits.

Gene in the early days, while still living at the temple after he had improved significantly due to more protein in his diet.  Some bare spots but not as he was the day we met him - nearly completely bald:

Gene in August 2007.  He's made quite a transformation!  It just goes to show what a little love, care, and nutrition can do for these lost souls.
